Right at Home: Water softener solutions

(NC)-Water softener systems are an effective means of combating hard water. However, rust and iron in hard water can have a negative effect on the softener. Left unchecked, rust and iron can build up in the resin bed of the softener, leading to decreased effectiveness, or in some cases, completely fouling the system.
